What is prostate?
Prostate is part of male reproductive system which is situated below urinary bladder.
What is the reason to increase the size of prostate?
Benign enlargement of prostate

What are problems of enlarged prostate?
Straining while urination
Poor Flow
Interrupted flow
Sence of incomplete urination
Increase Night time frequency of urination
Retention of urine and recurrent urinary infection
What are the symptoms of Prostate cancer?
In initial phase all of the above symptom can contribute. When cancer spread within the body, backache, swelling in the leg, bone pain, weight loss, loss of appetite develops.
Sometime in patient there is not any symptom seen in early stage but can detected by routine health checkup of PSA.
What is PSA?
PSA Prostate Specific antigen which secretes from cells of prostate in to the blood.
Its level detected by blood test.
It increases in any prostatic disease like cancer, prostatitis or Benign enlargement.
Roll of MRI?
MRI can identify tumor size, location and loco-regional extent. MRI also guide from which area of biopsy to be taken. Sometimes in increased PSA cases it avoids unnecessary prostatic biopsy.
What is PSMA PET Scan?
Recently introduced highly specific test to detect stage as well as recurrence of disease.
How you diagnose exactly prostate cancer?
Only by prostatic biopsy
Treatment: -
Surgery: Radical prostatectomy removes entire prostate and gives excellent cancer cure.
Radiation : Also treatment when surgery not possible or patient not willing.
Hormonal Treatment (Orchidectomy) : Usually done for metastatic (Forth Stage Cancer).
Chemotherapy : For recurrent/advance cancer stage.
